This week we have Stephen Corlett, as our contributor to Booster Consulting Limited's Insights' "The Key" 🔑.

🎉 Congratulations go to Stephen Corlett because as of this month (Jan 2024) he is now the Chief Executive Officer of 180 Amsterdam (the 180 Global networks global hub) and DDB Amsterdam, and in his words has the ”desire to do extraordinary things with brilliant people”. These words are well reflected in how Stephen Corlett describes the Agency as an “International creative agency on a mission to create the world as it could be”

❓ What is the key to Strong Client, Agency Relationships? (in 3 words or less):

➡ “Fierce Empathy"

❓ Please expand on this (In 100 words or less):

“Great client relationships are built on Fierce Empathy. This goes beyond just ‘listening’ to a deeper level of understanding. It means being relentless is getting under the skin of how the business actually makes money and how it operates day to day. That means factory visits, working on the shop floor, visiting the markets. Critically, this is about the whole team - not just the planner - making these commitments. By doing so everyone understands what is really going on, we ask better questions perhaps even ask the taboo ones and uncover better insights and opportunities. Ultimately it will show you care. And that’s what clients want to feel more than anything.”

❓ What is your longest Client-Agency relationship?

DHL: 13 years (and counting)!

This “Fierce Empathy” is very much demonstrated in an example Stephen Corlett mentioned when we were discussing “The Key” 🔑 – That their whole DHL Agency team went on the DHL training scheme to become certified ‘DHL International Specialists’. 🎓

Definitely leading to a ‘deeper level of understanding’!
